Bruce Robertson is a Research Vice President and Distinguished Analyst at Gartner, covering business process management (BPM) research. Mr. Robertson now focuses on big or transformational change that leverages business process improvement (BPI) and BPM capabilities. This includes the BPM discipline and related roles, business architecture (and connecting BPM to EA) and BPM business cases, including metrics. Beyond these more traditional topics, his emerging research agenda is to understand how process is impacted by the new capabilities of the Internet of Things, Mobile, and Smart Machines.
His expertise areas include BPM roles and organization, including leading the business process competency center (BPCC), BPM metrics, process hierarchy and process models, business process architecture, and enterprise business architecture.
Mr. Robertson has more than 25 years of experience in end-user IT architecture and infrastructure planning and research functions. He joined Gartner in April 2005 with the acquisition of Meta Group. Before joining Meta Group in 1995, he was senior technology editor at Network Computing magazine, a technology consulting firm director and an IT manager.
